Guidance Homes was built on a simple idea: create well-designed homes that fit both the land and the people who live there. Led by owner Jaren Johnson, the company focuses on thoughtful planning, clear communication, and building homes that feel intentional, comfortable, and built to last.
Rooted in the Northwoods
Jaren Johnson’s connection to Wisconsin runs deep. He grew up in the Northwoods and continues to spend much of his time there today. His second residence is a cabin on Des Moines Lake, and he regularly enjoys time in the Webb Lake area—places that reflect his appreciation for nature, privacy, and the lifestyle many of his clients are building toward.
Outside of work, Jaren is an avid hunter and fisherman who values time spent outdoors with family and friends. In the winter, you’ll often find him snowmobiling the trails of northern Wisconsin, and in the warmer months he enjoys sailing on Lake Superior. These experiences shape how he views home design—favoring practicality, durability, and spaces that support real life, not just appearances.
Experience Built on Both Construction and Real Estate
Jaren Johnson began his career in custom home building in his early 20s, working as a job supervisor for his father’s building company. This hands-on role gave him practical experience coordinating trades, managing timelines, and understanding how homes are built from the ground up.
To strengthen his perspective, Jaren later became a licensed real estate agent while continuing to work in construction. Today, he and his father, Jim, work together at Guidance Homes, combining field experience, design planning, and real estate insight to deliver well-considered custom homes built with both livability and long-term value in mind.
